We are constantly looking for good homes who will permanently foster one or two of our elderly cats. When cats come into our care and they are passed a certain age, it is very difficult to find anyone to adopt them, largely due to the fact that the last few years in a cats life can be costly. With our fostering policy, if we find a home to take on one or two of our older cats for the remainder of their years, we will cover any veterinary costs during that time. This gives the cats a chance to live our lives in kind loving homes and there is no worry as to how to pay any forthcoming vets bills.
Fostering older cats can be very sad - sometimes they are not with us very long (occasionally only months) - but it can be very rewarding. These cats have found themselves alone, through no fault of our own, and are understandably confused and upset. A warm fireside and lots of love make all the difference and can quickly restore their confidence. Knowing that you helped the cats live out the latter part of its life happily (even if is only for afew months) is extremely satisfying and very worthwhile. We have found that the oldies can make the best companions.
